All students benefit from learning a more complete story of American history. Understanding the experiences and contributions of people from different cultures, ethnicities, and backgrounds helps students develop a broader perspective of the nation, the world, and their place within it.

Black history is American history. It is deeply connected to the stories of Native Americans, Europeans, and the many people and cultures that have shaped the United States.
